Things beyond our seeing, things beyond our hearing, things beyond our imagining,
        have all been prepared by God for those who love him.
      (1 Corinthians 2:9  NREB)
Welcome & Call to Worship
Come, you who thirst for grace.
        Come, you who hunger for justice.
        Come, you who are a stranger in a strange land.
  Come, you who are like a child at home.
        Come, for Christ welcomes you to this time and place.
  We have come to worship God.
        Then let us worship together the God of grace and love.

  Prayers of Approach & Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
        hallowed be your name,
        your kingdom come,
        your will be done,
        on earth as in heaven.
        Give us today our daily bread.
        Forgive us our sins
        as we forgive those who sin against us.
        Save us from the time of trial
        and deliver us from evil.
        For the kingdom, the power
        and the glory are yours
        now and forever.
        Amen
Bible Readings
Psalm 121 - A song of ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
      where does my help come from?
  My help comes from the Lord,
      the Maker of heaven and earth.
  He will not let your foot slip—
      he who watches over you will not slumber;
  indeed, he who watches over Israel
      will neither slumber nor sleep.
  The Lord watches over you—
      the Lord is  your shade at your right hand;
  the sun will not harm you by day,
      nor the moon by night.
  The Lord will keep you from all harm—
      he will watch over your life;
  the Lord will watch over your coming and going
      both now and forevermore.
.John 14:1-14
Jesus  Comforts His Disciples
      “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Jesus the Way to the Father
         Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
        Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Sermon – ‘Blessed participation – the hope of heaven!’
Doxology (Hymn 807)
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
        Praise Him, all creatures here below;
        Praise Him above, ye heavenly host:
        Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Hymn : When the trumpet of the Lord (MP 759)
Dismissal

        My friends in Christ,
        this service has come to an end.
        See how much God loves us:
        we have hope in Christ.
        that frees us,
        heals us,
        reshapes us.
        Go in and into that good news:
      For we are God’s children.
Blessing
May the mystery of Christ’s resurrection bring new hope to your being.
        May the victory over earthly death turn your eyes to the promises of heaven.
        May the empty tomb help you to leave your sorrows at the foot of the cross,
        so that God's hope, promises and forgiveness reign in your life forever.
And may the blessing of God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
        Be with you all forever more.
  Amen
